He has served as an editor of the IEEE Computer Magazine and the IEEE Transactions on Computers. He has received numerous certificates and awards from the IEEE Computer Society including a "Third Millennium Medal" for outstanding contributions. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, ACM, AAAS and WIF.
